Dear All,
As promised, I am following up on my earlier communication regarding the Miami Memorial Service—the Day of Remembrance—that is being organized by the Association of Carpathian Jews.
The Miami Day of Remembrance will take place on May 21, at 2:00 p.m., in the Balmoral Condominium located at 9801 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour, Florida 33154. Upon your arrival, please valet park your car. You will be directed to the hall where the event will be held.
Please note that this year, in addition to the Memorial Services in Jerusalem and Miami, similar commemorative services will be held in Uzhgorod and Budapest. If feasible, each commemorative event will contain similar program elements:
--Clips from the Yad Vashem Memorial Service
--Kaddish
--El Male Rechamim (Prayer for the Soul of the Departed)
--Memorial Candle Lighting
--Presentations by Holocaust survivors
--Keynote Address by a local scholar
--Formal acknowledgement of Holocaust survivors present at the event
I am pleased to let you know that our keynote speaker is Dr. Miriam Klein Kassenoff. A child-survivor, Dr. Klein Kassenoff is the Director of the Holocaust Summer Institute at the University of Miami and District Holocaust Education Specialist for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools/Holocaust Memorial.
Please encourage your friends and family to come to our event.
I look forward to seeing you next week.
Warm Regards
Alex Spiegel
PS. As soon as I have information regarding video streaming in real time of the service in Yad Vashem, I will share it with you.
