New York Times: Clinton Turned Libya Into 'failed state and terrorist haven'

Throughout her presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton has gone to great lengths to put a distance between herself and the U.S. intervention in Libya.
On Sunday, the New York Times published a lengthy piece detailing Clinton’s involvement with Libya. The piece discussed how Clinton paid a central role in convincing Obama to overthrow Muammar Qaddafi, a move that eventually led to Libya turning into a “failed state and terrorist haven” according to the article.
The New York Times tends to heavily favor liberal candidates, so their decision to attack the top Democratic candidate is unexpected.
Despite Clinton’s efforts to stay as far away from the Libya conversation as possible, the New York Times states that her role was “critical in persuading Mr. Obama to join allies in bombing Colonel Qaddafi’s forces.”
Robert M. Gates, Obama’s defense secretary, even later said that “it was Mrs. Clinton’s support that put the ambivalent president over the line” according to the article.
At the time, Clinton even pushed herself to be “at the center of everything”, when it came to intervening in Libya.
According to the Times:
Two days before, Mrs. Clinton had taken a triumphal tour of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and for weeks top aides had been circulating a “ticktock” that described her starring role in the events that had led to this moment. The timeline, her top policy aide, Jake Sullivan, wrote, demonstrated Mrs. Clinton’s “leadership/ownership/ stewardship of this country’s Libya policy from start to finish.” The memo’s language put her at the center of everything: “HRC/Hillary Roddam Clinton/ announces … HRC directs … HRC travels… HRC engages,” it read.
It was a brag sheet for a cabinet member eyeing a presidential race, and the Clinton team’s eagerness to claim credit for her prompted eye-rolling at the White House and the Pentagon. Some joked that to hear her aides tell it; she had practically called in the airstrikes herself.
Clinton managed to turn the entire country of Libya into a breeding ground for terrorism, and now after she has realized her mistakes, is pretending it never happened. If she wasn’t able to manage her duties as Secretary of State, she is not fit to be President.
