Ian Smith, VP & Executive Lead for GC2018 Legacy, Optus

Ian is VP responsible for Optus’ GC2018 legacy.  He works closely with the Optus Government aligned teams to leverage the GC2018 experience and learnings in order to innovate, champion collaboration and improve business outcomes for our customers with their customers, employees and the spaces in which they work and live. In June 2017, Ian was appointed VP & Executive Lead for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.  He was responsible for Optus’ relationship with the Gold Coast Organising Committee (GOLDOCS), accountable for the successful delivery of the Games, coordinating efforts across all Optus units and key vendors. Robbie Cooke, Chief Executive Officer, Tyro

Before joining Tyro in March 2018, Robbie was the Managing Director and CEO of Tatts Group Limited for 5 years. Tatts featured in the ASX top 60 with a market capitalisation of $6.7 billion and held exclusive lotteries, wagering and gaming licences across Australia. This role concluded upon Tatts combining via a scheme of arrangement with its Australian peer, Tabcorp. Prior to Tatts Robbie served initially as COO, and then as Managing Director and CEO, of Australia’s leading online travel group, Wotif.com Holdings Limited. Wotif’s operational footprint traversed Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the UK. During his seven years at Wotif, Robbie oversaw the group’s significant scale up from start-up mode, achieving a circa fivefold increase in profits and undertaking a highly successful IPO on the ASX in 2006. Steve Baxter, Chief Executive Officer, Transition Level Investments

Tech start-up investor Steve Baxter is a proud Queenslander, born in the remote town of Cloncurry and raised in Emerald in the State’s central highlands. He left school at 15 and joined the Army, enlisting in its apprenticeship program. There, he became a technician working in the field of electronics, telecoms and guided weapon systems. In 1994, at the age of 23, Steve put his life savings of $11,000 on the line to launch his first start-up, the pioneering internet service provider SE Net, from the spare room of his Adelaide home.
